The #93 Acura ARX-06 continued to lead the pack as the first day of on-track action for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship concluded at Daytona International Speedway.

Renger van der Zande put together the fastest lap time for the MSR #93, followed closely by a pair of Porsches—the #6 Porsche Penske 963 driven by Julian Andlauer and the customer JDC 963 piloted by Nico Pino. Van der Zande and Andlauer’s times were separated by only the slimmest of margins: 0.001 seconds.

Unfortunately, one car that did not turn any laps among the prototypes was the fan-favorite Aston Martin Valkyrie. Driver Ross Gunn stated that “electrical issues” forced the team to work on the car throughout the session, effectively ending their day early.

In the LMP2 class, Alpine driver Charles Milesi recorded the quickest time for TDS Racing, with Malthe Jakobsen of CrowdStrike Racing by APR and Pratt Miller Motorsports’ Enzo Fittipaldi rounding out the top three.

Testing resumes this morning as the GTD Pro and GTD classes join the prototypes for three on-track sessions, including a nighttime run.
