Wayne Taylor Racing’s 2025 campaign has seen its share of changes and momentum shifts, but it has also delivered standout highs. From reuniting with Cadillac to earning the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America World Finals victory with Hampus Ericsson and Danny Formal, the year has been nothing short of eventful — and, at times, deeply rewarding for one of IMSA’s most storied operations.
“Coming into 2025, I was revitalized. I’ve been doing this for a very long time and making the program a factory program with Cadillac was a big deal for me because of my relationships with everybody over there,” Taylor said. “As far as the GTP program is concerned, the relationship between Cadillac, GM, and me personally has been so impressive.”
Taylor also reflected proudly on the team’s GT success, especially within the Lamborghini ladder. “Our Lamborghini Super Trofeo team has just been incredibly successful, winning, I think, three of the North American championship races and clinching them in Italy. Then winning the World Cup was a big deal. In fact, if you look back, there’s only two teams that have ever won the World Cup and both times they were our team. I was so very impressed by that standpoint. We also got our 100th win in the series. I’m very proud of everybody, all the drivers. It was great. The GTD car is sort of the next step for a lot of the drivers coming out of Super Trofeo or current drivers that we got there. Our pro drivers. I believe we won one last year. I think we probably could have won more, but you know, we also went from running four cars in Super Trofeo to now two cars in GTP and a car in GTD.”

Still, as the group prepares for 2026, Taylor’s focus is centered on elevating the GTP program back to the top step.
With victories stacking up on the Lamborghini side, WTR’s GTP effort is eager to follow suit.
“I was expecting to come into the season and immediately win right out of the box. But the way things went in terms of the rules and regulations and BoP, it just wasn’t going to happen. It became incredibly frustrating for me for the first two or three races until we managed to get things back on track. I’ve always said to everybody, whether it’s friends, neighbors, sponsors, partners, manufacturers, I’ve always said this quote: There’s no sport, no racing sport, no other sport that you can guarantee you’re going to win a race or win a game. But every single year, I can tell you, we have raced to win every race. So, we’re always in a position to race to win. However, that wasn’t the case at the beginning of this year. It was purely a case of the way the cars were regulated, which was completely out of our control, however changes were made. So, we had a couple of races where we were racing for the win, but overall, I think it’s become a learning year and to me that’s a wasted year without a result. So now the focus is clear that we have to win again.”
Beyond domestic goals, the team has its sights set abroad — including another opportunity at Le Mans.
After securing an invite to the 2025 edition, WTR now hopes for a return trip in 2026, pending approval from the ACO.
“Firstly, it comes down to the ACO if they give out those entries again. We will most certainly apply again like we did last year. You know, last year was a tough year, the first time as a team. But if it wasn’t for all the mechanical failures, the team did a really good job actually. And so, I definitely want to go back. It all depends on the ACO.”
As preparations for 2026 begin, expectations will inevitably follow one of IMSA’s perennial contenders — but Taylor acknowledges that pressure is simply part of the job, and part of what continues to drive him.
“Listen, I would be lying to you if I said there was no pressure. The pressure does come from the outer, but the pressure is me. It’s my responsibility to so many people, and so I put myself under that pressure, and it’ll always be there.”
