Although no races will take place for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship or Michelin Pilot Challenge, the VP Racing Fuels SportsCar Challenge will kick off its 2026 campaign this weekend at the Roar with the season’s first two rounds.
Twenty cars are set to hit the track, including nine LMP3 entries and 11 GSX cars, shaping up to be an exciting season-opening weekend for the series.
As mentioned in previous articles, the series is set to undergo a significant format change in 2026 with the addition of a new endurance championship, the Airbnb Endurance Challenge, along with the introduction of BMW M2 entries. The BMW M2s will compete exclusively in the endurance events alongside LMP3 machinery.
Additionally, GTDX remains part of the championship for 2026, although the class will not feature any competing entries this weekend at Daytona.
In LMP3, Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsports returns with a trio of Duqueine entries following its 2025 class championship. Oscar Tunjo, Danny Soufi, and Jeremy Siffert are set to run it back for the team as they aim to sweep Daytona for a second consecutive season.
Joining the defending champions are a pair of Forte Racing Ligier entries with Brian Thienes and Jon Hirshberg, along with the Toney Driver Development program featuring Lincoln Day and Brady Golan. Single-car efforts in the class include Travis Hill piloting the Shopify Racing entry run by TwoTH, as well as Fast MD by Remstar with Farhan Siddiqi.
In GSX, Rafa Racing will compete under the Ave Motorsports banner in 2026. Rising prospect Westin Workman makes the jump to GT4 competition alongside Rafa Martinez in the team’s dual Toyota Supra program. Justin Di Benedetto also returns for his second season in IMSA following a strong 2025 campaign in his family-operated Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS.
Other notable entries in the class include CSM’s Isameel Ellahi, AutoTechnic Racing with Tiger Tari, 89x Motorsports with Mike Fitzpatrick, and Grammy Award–winning producer Jim Jonsin driving for Goldcrest Motorsports.
Both races are 45 minutes in length and will be broadcast live on Peacock, with Race 1 scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday and Race 2 set for 1:20 p.m. ET on Sunday.
