Barwell Motorsport will embark on its most ambitious full-season British GT Championship campaign in almost two decades in 2026, with Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin confirmed as the first pairing in what will be a three-car Lamborghini GT3 programme.

The experienced duo makes the switch to the Surrey-based outfit after years racing Ferrari machinery, and will pilot one of Barwell’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2s as part of a landmark season for the team. It marks Barwell’s largest full-season British GT entry since running three Aston Martin DBRS9s back in 2007.

Cameron and Griffin are among the most established partnerships in the British GT paddock, having first teamed up in 2009 and since claiming six outright victories together in the championship. While every previous start has come in a Ferrari, 2026 will see them begin a new chapter aboard Barwell’s #55 Lamborghini, supported by Hensmill, Lady Luck Irish Whiskey and ESS Electrical Switchgear Services.

For Cameron, the return to a full British GT campaign carries both professional and personal significance. “I was very keen to get back to British GT this year as my son, Henry, will be racing in Ginetta Juniors on the same weekends,” he explained. “Eventually we’d love to race together in GTs, so being in the same paddock makes perfect sense.”

Cameron added that joining Barwell was an easy decision once the opportunity arose. “When the chance to join Barwell Motorsport came up, it was a no-brainer. I’ve yet to race the Lamborghini Huracan, but it’s been competitive everywhere for years. With Matt and the Barwell team around me, I know I’ll learn quickly and I’m really looking forward to the season.”

Griffin, meanwhile, renews a relationship with Barwell that dates back almost two decades, having previously been in discussions to race the team’s first Aston Martins in 2006. Since then, the Irishman has built an enviable CV that includes 11 Le Mans 24 Hours starts and a place sixth on British GT’s all-time winners list.

“We felt the time was right for a change in British GT,” said Griffin. “When you look for a top team, you don’t need to look much further than Barwell Motorsport. Their record speaks for itself, and it should be the perfect environment for Duncan and I.”

While Griffin will continue racing Ferraris in European competition, the move to Lamborghini in British GT brings a fresh challenge. “Both cars are mid-engined, so the transition shouldn’t be too dramatic,” he added. “And I’m really excited to be back with a naturally aspirated engine. The Huracan’s V10 is a pure driving experience — no worrying about turbos or torque bands — and that’s always suited my style.”

The 2026 season also represents the final year of top-level competition for the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, ahead of the brand’s switch to the new Temerario GT3 in 2027. Barwell’s decision to field three cars therefore serves as a fitting send-off for a model with which the team has enjoyed unprecedented success.

Since introducing the Huracan to British GT in 2016, Barwell Motorsport has been responsible for 28 of Lamborghini’s 31 race wins in the series, alongside seven GT3 Teams’ titles and four Drivers’ Championships.

Team principal Mark Lemmer believes Cameron and Griffin are the ideal pairing to anchor such a major programme. “As driver line-ups go, it’s hard to find a partnership as enduring and experienced as Duncan and Matt,” he said. “They know each other inside out and work incredibly well together, so I’m confident they’ll adapt quickly to the Lamborghini.”

Lemmer also underlined the wider significance of the season. “With this being the final year for the Huracan in top-flight GT3 competition, expanding to three cars feels like the right way to mark everything the car has achieved with us. Combined with the launch of our GT3 Heritage programme, 2026 is going to be a huge year for Barwell both at home and abroad.”

Barwell Motorsport’s remaining British GT crews, along with its GT3 Heritage line-up, will be confirmed in due course.
