A 42-car field is set to hit the track next weekend for Rounds 3 & 4 of the Mazda MX-5 Cup on the Streets of St. Petersburg.

Following two wild opening rounds at Daytona, the series heads to one of the most challenging events on the calendar. St. Pete marks the only street circuit on the MX-5 Cup schedule, leaving little room for error around the tight, unforgiving confines of the temporary course.

Not only does the weekend generate added attention as part of IndyCar’s season opener, but the grid will also feature several high-profile one-off entries.

Former Rolex 24 winner Sébastien Bourdais and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Earl Bamber will join the competitive field before returning to their primary racing programs later in March. Bourdais is no stranger to St. Pete, having captured back-to-back victories at the circuit in 2017 and 2018.

While Bamber has one prior MX-5 Cup start at Martinsville, Bourdais will make his series debut at St. Pete with McCumbee-McAleer Racing.

Joining the two invitational entries are series regulars Tristan McKee, Jeremy Fletcher, Fernando Luque, Parker DeLong, Nathan Nicholson, Tyler Gonzalez, and Gresham Wagner.

On-track action begins Friday, February 27, with one practice session and qualifying. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1.
