Barwell Motorsport has finalised its most expansive British GT campaign in nearly two decades by confirming Alex Martin and Jarrod Waberski as the drivers of its third Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.

The Surrey-based squad will field a trio of GT3 entries in 2026 as it targets a return to the Drivers’ and Teams’ title double it last secured in 2024. Alongside the previously announced pairings in the #55 and #63 cars, Martin and Waberski complete the line-up in the Silver-Am #78 Lamborghini, creating a three-pronged assault on the championship.

With backing from Dextra Group brands including DexNET Lighting Controls, D.A.W, T4 Intelligent Infrastructure and Dama Fortuna Premium Tequila, the #78 will carry a striking new design as Barwell goes all-in across every major GT3 accolade on offer.

Proven pedigree meets rising promise

Martin arrives with one of the strongest amateur records in recent British GT seasons. Since joining Barwell in 2024 he has amassed four outright victories and a maximum score at the Brands Hatch finale that year, tallying more top scores across the past two campaigns than any other Am driver in the field. Runner-up in the standings in 2024 and fourth last season, the title remains firmly in his sights.

“I’m really excited about this year, and to be working with Jarrod,” Martin explained. “Everybody who’s been around him says he’s a great guy and super quick.”

While eager to build on his own strengths, Martin was candid about areas for improvement. “Race pace has usually always been strong with me, but I’m keen to improve on my qualifying performances this season,” he said, adding that British GT feels like “major unfinished business” after going close to the crown.

He also underlined the broader ambition of the programme: despite running in Silver-Am, “the outright title is still always the aim,” pointing to previous seasons where mixed-class entries have featured prominently in the overall fight.

Waberski, meanwhile, steps into British GT for the first time but does so with considerable momentum. The 20-year-old South African enjoyed an impressive single-seater career before switching to GT racing last year, immediately claiming the Silver title in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. His campaign included victory at Monza and a podium at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

Now transitioning from a front-engined BMW to the mid-engined Lamborghini, Waberski believes the Huracán suits his style.

“After one test in the Lamborghini I felt right at home,” he said. “Being mid-engined it feels that bit more natural to drive with the engine behind you and the dynamics and weight transfer were quite familiar.”

Acknowledging the benchmark set by his predecessor, he added: “Obviously, following Sandy I’ve got some big boots to fill, but I’m absolutely confident I can get into the mix.”

Crucially, Waberski recognises the importance of the Am driver’s contribution in British GT’s format. “Success in British GT is so often determined by the performance of the amateur driver, and Alex has proven himself as one of the top drivers in the championship. With him and Barwell behind me the aim has to be to fight for both the Silver-Am title, and the overall GT3 crown.”

Title ambitions across the board

Team principal Mark Lemmer is in no doubt about the strength in depth across the expanded operation.

“When we decided to increase our British GT effort to three cars for this year the challenge was on to ensure we had three crews all fully capable of fighting for wins. We have undoubtedly achieved that,” he said.

Lemmer believes the Martin/Waberski pairing blends experience and youthful speed in equal measure, highlighting Waberski’s immediate impact during testing and Martin’s hunger to convert recent near-misses into silverware. “Our goal is clear, to fight for the GT3 Drivers’ titles and the Teams’ championship, and we have every ingredient in place to do just that.”

With three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2s on the grid, Barwell’s 2026 British GT campaign represents its boldest statement of intent in years. The team will roll out all three cars at Silverstone for Media Day on March 31, before the championship opener takes place at the Northamptonshire circuit on April 25–26.

If pre-season form translates into results, Barwell’s hat-trick of entries could prove decisive in the fight for British GT3 honours.
