Porsche & Penske join several teams this weekend at Sebring in honoring the race’s title sponsor, Mobil 1, with special liveries featuring red, blue, and black strokes across their Porsche 963s.
Penske had hinted at running special liveries this season to coincide with the team’s 60th anniversary. This weekend’s design, however, honors Porsche’s long-standing 30-year relationship with Mobil 1, harkening back to the iconic 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans livery on the Porsche 911 GT1.
The scheme features a white base accented by red, blue, and black strokes. The No. 6 carries a blue wing and rear fin, while the No. 7 is distinguished by a red wing and rear fin.
“The close and highly trusted partnership between Porsche and Mobil 1 has produced countless unforgettable moments and lasting innovations,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. “We have always used competition on race tracks around the world to test technologies and push boundaries. Mobil 1 has accompanied us on this journey for 30 years as the ideal partner. This year’s Sebring race and the special livery place this partnership in the spotlight. The anniversary also fits perfectly into our celebrations marking 75 years of Porsche Motorsport.”
Team Penske and Porsche will look to go back-to-back in the Sunshine State after completing the “36 Hours of Florida” last season with victories at both Daytona and Sebring. The team will debut its special livery on track tomorrow during practice at 10:05 a.m. ET.
