IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns in two weeks as the series begins its West Coast swing on the famous streets of Long Beach, California.

The 100-minute sprint serves as the first of two short-format races this season, with Detroit featuring an hour-and-forty-minute contest.

Alongside the full-time GTP and GTD fields are a handful of one-off entries—a now familiar element of this event—while LMP2 and GTD Pro will not be represented. The race also marks the start of a stretch without all four classes competing together, with the full lineup reuniting in two months at Watkins Glen in June.

The two confirmed one-off GTD entries are fan favorites within the sportscar community. AO Racing’s Porsche 911 returns in the “Roxy” livery as the team looks to defend its 2025 victory with full-season driver Harry King and two-time WEC winner Mikkel Pedersen. It remains unclear whether the car will carry the No. 177 used in last year’s win. Still, the squad arrives with strong momentum following a second-place finish at Sebring.

“It’s great to be bringing Roxy to Long Beach this year after Rexy’s win in 2025,” said Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette in an official release. “Harry is no stranger to the team, but it will be Mikkel’s first time driving our dino Porsche. We were impressed by Mikkel’s driving as teammates in the WEC RSRs and are looking forward to his IMSA debut with us.”

The other entry comes from Pfaff Motorsports, which will debut the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3. The team returns to Long Beach for the first time since 2023, when it secured a third-place finish in GTD Pro with the Porsche 911 GT3 R. Since then, Pfaff has undergone significant changes, including two manufacturer switches, culminating in the launch of this latest Lamborghini GT3 program. The Canadian squad will field factory driver Andrea Caldarelli alongside WeatherTech Championship newcomer Zachary Vanier. Their number for the race has yet to be announced.

Elsewhere, Spencer Pumpelly rejoins a familiar stable with Heart of Racing, slotting into the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in place of Tom Gamble, who is sidelined due to WEC commitments. Also, Robert Wickens returns to DXDT Racing for 2026 to begin his sprint race slate at Long Beach.

The 2026 edition of Long Beach begins Friday, April 17, with practice and qualifying. Saturday’s sprint race is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. The series will also be joined by Porsche Carrera Cup North America over the weekend, marking the first time since 2023 that the championship has featured a support series at Long Beach—also Porsche Carrera Cup North America.
