Porsche Carrera Cup North America completed its busy three-race weekend at Road America, which included its regularly scheduled pair of races at the circuit, along with a fitting wet-weather makeup for Race 2 from the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix weekend in May.
Race 1
In Race 1, Tyler Maxson claimed the overall and Pro class victory, leading all 19 laps aboard the No. 77 Topp Racing Porsche. Maxson finished more than five seconds clear of Aaron Jeansonne, who brought the No. 24 KellyMoss entry home in second, while Jared Thomas completed the overall podium in his self-owned No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering Porsche.
In the Masters class, Marco Cirone inherited the victory in the No. 88 ACI Motorsports Porsche after Rob Walker received a post-race blocking penalty in the No. 53 JTR Motorsports Engineering entry. The same penalty had earlier been assessed to Cirone’s ACI Motorsports teammate, Alex Pratt, in the No. 6 Porsche. Despite the penalty, Walker was still classified third in class, while Scott Blind finished second in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche.
In the Pro-Am class, Patrick Mulcahy led the two-car field to victory in the No. 54 ACI Motorsports Porsche. Josh Conley finished second in class in the No. 29 KellyMoss Porsche after completing just four laps.
Race 2
In the second regularly scheduled race of the weekend, Pro class championship leader Tyler Maxson encountered trouble early aboard the No. 77 Topp Racing Porsche, retiring just 10 minutes into the event. Shortly afterward, Pro-Am driver Josh Conley and Masters competitor John Goetz made contact in Turn 5, bringing out the opening full-course caution.
The yellow flags continued after the restart with less than 29 minutes remaining when Masters driver Chris Bellomo crashed his No. 68 KellyMoss Porsche into the concrete barrier entering Turn 4, triggering the race’s second caution.
Another restart with under 20 minutes remaining proved short-lived as Paul Bocuse, in the No. 71 KellyMoss Porsche, and Sabre Cook, driving the No. 37 JDX Racing Porsche, made contact and crashed into the wall, bringing out the third and final full-course caution of the afternoon.
The three cautions limited the race to just 13 laps, with only the final four completed under green. Callum Hedge initially took the lead on Lap 9, passing Cole Kleck’s No. 78 Topp Racing Porsche for the provisional victory. However, a post-race penalty assessed to Hedge promoted Kleck to the overall and Pro class victory. Janne Stiak finished second in the No. 40 ACI Motorsports Porsche, while Aaron Jeansonne completed the podium in the No. 24 KellyMoss entry.
In the Masters class, Marco Cirone claimed his second victory of the weekend after Scott Blind lost the lead entering Turn 1 on the final restart. Rob Walker rebounded from his Race 1 penalty to finish second, while Richard Edge completed the class podium in the No. 18 ACI Motorsports Porsche.
In the Pro-Am class, Patrick Mulcahy once again claimed top honors in the two-car field, while Josh Conley finished second despite retiring on the opening lap.
Race 3 (Miami Race 2 Makeup)
In the final race of the weekend, wet-weather conditions set the stage for the makeup race from the Miami Formula 1 weekend in May.
Callum Hedge, who had provisionally won both Race 1 in Miami and Saturday’s second race of the weekend before post-race penalties, finally secured an official victory by controlling the race from the opening lap through treacherous conditions and multiple full-course cautions to claim the overall and Pro class win in the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche.
The battle for the remaining podium positions was far less straightforward. Aaron Jeansonne, Jared Thomas, Janne Stiak, and a charging Tyler Maxson traded second place throughout the race. A late mistake by Maxson proved costly, dropping the championship leader down the order and allowing Jeansonne and Thomas to settle the fight for the remaining podium spots. Jeansonne ultimately finished second, with Thomas completing the podium in third.
In the Masters class, Scott Blind rebounded from a disappointing finish in Race 2 to claim victory in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche. Marco Cirone finished second in the No. 88 ACI Motorsports Porsche, while Kevin Stadtlander completed the podium in the No. 60 JDX Racing Porsche. The Masters field featured just four entries, as the race served as the postponed Miami event.
In the Pro-Am class, neither of the two entries reached the checkered flag. Nevertheless, Patrick Mulcahy completed a weekend sweep of the class, earning the victory despite completing just one lap before contact with CSM driver Nikita Lastochkin in the No. 3 Porsche ended his race prematurely. Josh Conley was classified second despite not taking the start in the two-car field.
