Twenty-three cars are set to hit the track next weekend at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s lone GT-only race of the 2026 season, taking place August 21–23.
The 23-car field is split between 10 entries in GTD Pro and 13 in GTD for next weekend’s 160-minute event at VIR.
Of the 23 cars entered, two changes can be found for next weekend, both coming from the same program.
Marco Sørensen will pair with Valentin Hasse Clot in the YRB Racing No. 68 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. Since the program’s change in ownership at Watkins Glen, where the Aston Martin effort rebranded as YRB Racing and “Car Blanche,” Hasse Clot has been paired with Trenton Estep and Marius Fossard for the endurance rounds at Watkins Glen and Road America, while Scott Andrews joined Hasse Clot at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Sørensen is no stranger to the IMSA paddock, having competed earlier this year in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, where he made his Daytona racing debut with Heart of Racing’s No. 23 Aston Martin Valkyrie. Sørensen has continued to focus his full-time efforts on the THOR Team Aston Martin Valkyrie program in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Along with the driver change, YRB Racing will also make its return to the GTD Pro class after its most recent championship start came in GTD. The program’s last GTD Pro start came at CTMP in July, where it finished 10th in class. The team’s GTD starts came during the endurance rounds at Watkins Glen and Road America, where the program scored podium finishes in both events.
On-track action for next weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge begins Friday, August 21, with the GT cars’ first 90-minute practice session at 3:10 p.m. ET. The final 90-minute practice session takes place Saturday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by GTD Pro and GTD qualifying at 4:50 p.m. ET.
Sunday’s 160-minute race gets underway at 12:10 p.m. ET, with coverage available on NBC and Peacock. Viewers outside the United States can watch the event on IMSA.tv or IMSA’s official YouTube channel.
