For the first time in over a year Michele Di Martino scored a podium finish at the Nürburgring. In the 41. RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen the driver of the Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3 finished third to end a streak of bad luck.

“We’ve had to come a long way to get to this point,” Michele Di Martino says.

“We all knew that this result was possible—the speed was there—but in motorsports you also need luck.”

The 2015 VLN BMW M235i Racing Cup champion joined Walkenhorst Motorsport two years ago to begin his GT3 career racing the BMW M6 GT3, collecting two third places. For this year, he moved to Franz Konrad’s Lamborghini team where a lacklustre beginning of the season seems finally over.

“Now I really want more. I’ve only gotten third places so far; the next step should be second or first place. But, after such a long season as this, this kind of result feels really good.

“We had to believe in ourselves. The speed was already there after we changed to Michelin tyres: we directly had the pace and made more changes to the car. It was all about the luck, I think.

“We kept believing we could do it and today it happened.”
