Ever since winning the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2016, Adam Christodoulou has been chasing his second triumph. Always a contender for the win and coming close many times since, bad luck has kept him from becoming the first British driver to put two ‘N24’ titles to his name. Back this year aboard the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team HRT Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with his trusty teammates Maro Engel and Manuel Metzger with whom he won five years ago, and again joined by Luca Stolz, Adam gives it another go.
At the red flag Adam is in P1 overall.

Adam Christodoulou: “Obviously the race has been red-flagged which was a real shame as I felt like we were motoring along and we had about a 30-second lead which will be neutralised. Originally, at first we were told we were only allowed to put 20 litres in the car and we thought we’d lost a massive advantage to the BMW which had pitted the lap before, but it turns out it’s not as bad as originally thought. Anyone who has pitted before has to do a longer stop basically during their first pitstop after the red flag and it depends on how many laps before you pitted, so that’s good news I suppose. We’ll find out at about 6 in the morning what is going to happen.
“Maro will be in the car first because he still hasn’t driven yet in the #4 so we shall go from there.
“It’s a shame, I think we probably could have continued in the fog, even at 120kph. Apparently a few people were saying that the tyres were getting dangerous because they were cooling down too much after the Code 60s, but I felt that we were getting on OK. I think that was just people’s wrong tyre choice, basically. Anyway, I suppose we’ll carry on tomorrow from 6 onwards once we find out the latest.”
