While Maro Engel took the chequered flag first, it was David Pittard who took the win for Walkenhorst Motorsport. In the final minutes of the first VLN Nürburgring Endurance Series race of the season, the Haupt Racing Team was given a 37-second time penalty. Crossing the finish line 10 seconds behind Engel, Pittard had plenty of time left to give the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 he shared with Mikkel Jensen victory to celebrate.
