The final round of 2020’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship will take place as planned at Silverstone this weekend (November 7/8).

Following discussions taking place this morning Motorsport UK has granted British GT Elite Sport status. Elite sport – as ratified by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport – can continue behind closed doors during England’s four-week country-wide lockdown, which is due to begin this Thursday.

The Silverstone 500 was already due to take place behind closed doors, while SRO Motorsports Group and British GT’s organising club, the BRSCC, have worked tirelessly throughout the season to implement a COVID-19-secure environment. The meeting will see a bumper grid of cars taking part including F1 world champion Jenson Button and a much increased GTC class.

COVID-19 measures will prevent spectators from attending British GT’s #SilverstoneShowdown. However, fans around the world can watch the season finale live on British GT’s Facebook page and website, as well as SRO’s GT World Youtube channel, at 12:50 GMT on November 8.
