Coming off fresh from a victory at Monza during the opening round of the 2021 Italian GT Sprint series, Easy Race has announced it has signed Luca Filippi as the team’s third driver for the upcoming Endurance series. Filippi will join Sprint championship leaders Mattia Greco and Fabrizio Crestani in their Ferrari 488 GT3.
“I am extremely motivated and happy for this new opportunity with Easy Race and with two excellent drivers like Fabrizio and Matteo, whom I know well,” said Filippi, who is set to make his Italian GT debut this weekend. “With Fabrizio I have already had the opportunity to race both as a co-driver and as an opponent and we have an excellent relationship.
“Matteo is a young boy who I have followed since his debut in the car and he is extremely talented. I think we can set ourselves very ambitious goals, because we have all the credentials to make a good championship run.
“I loved the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo from the first go. I immediately felt great inside the car and I can’t wait to be in Pergusa.
“Thanks to those who have allowed this opportunity and in particular to Ferdinando Geri and Michele Paccagnella and to all those who collaborate in this ambitious project.”
After an excellent debut in the Sprint series, Fabrizio Crestani is also confident for the Endurance series.
“For me the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo is a completely new car, so I am happy to have Luca at my side, considering his experience with this car, and Matteo with whom he is establishing an excellent relationship.
“We will be a good trio and I’m sure we will push straight away for concrete result. I am convinced that we have good prospects for this season.”
Having been an Easy Race driver since last year and winner of the 2020 Pro-Am Endurance title, Matteo Greco is happy in continuing developing his racing career with the Paduan race team.
“Continuing with Easy Race also in the 2021 Endurance championship is a great privilege. With this team and this category of the Italian GT last year I made my debut in GT3 and in the light of me capturing the Pro-Am title I can only have positive feelings.
“I am happy to be able to share the cockpit with Fabrizio and Luca, drivers of absolute experience and competitiveness, which will allow me to accelerate the growth curve in this category.”
The opening round of the 2021 Italian GT Endurance series is set for this weekend from the 21-23 May.
