With the end of February just around the corner, another three cars have been confirmed for what is shaping up to be another thrilling season of the Intelligent Money British GT championship.

➤ The first announcement came courtesy of 2 Seas Motorsport and boy they went all out for this one. Reigning champion, Ian Loggie will once again partner Mercedes superstar, Jules Gounon in a Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo. However, they’ve split with RAM Racing and are headed to the Bahraini squad of 2 Seas who themselves have won races within British GT.

➤ The second and final announcement comes from Academy Motorsport who return with the Mustang GT4. This time they will run not one but two Mustangs to bolster their chances of the American muscle clinching the all-important GT4 title.
The returning Matt Cowley will share the first car with US single-seater ace, Erik Evans. Evans made his debut at last year’s Donington decider alongside 2021 GT4 runner-up, Will Moore. Moore himself had been sidelined throughout 2022 after recovering from an injury but will return to a full-time seat alongside team owner, Matt Nicoll-Jones for 2023.

➤ The Kyalami 9-hours was held over the weekend with none other than Jules Gounon aiming to add to his extensive trophy collection. And that he did by clinching the pro-am class victory in the SPS Sun Energy One Mercedes AMG GT3 by two laps over their nearest rivals.
That means in 2023 alone, Gounon has won GTD-PRO at the Daytona 24 hours, overall at the Bathurst 12 hours and now the Kyalami 9 hours in pro-am.

➤ Winter testing continues as Team BRIT has just concluded a three-day test at the Algarve circuit in Portugal ahead of their 2023 campaigns. ➤ Team BRIT are not the only ones to have been enjoying the winter sunshine as Greystone GT were also out at Algarve testing. The Proctor McLaren from last season has been spotted out there along with their GT Open and GT Cup entries.

➤ RAM Racing has also resumed winter testing but they decided to pass on the sunshine in Portugal. Instead, they opted for Silverstone in what appears to be a typical wet weather day at the Home of British Motorsport. Their driver lineup is yet to be announced however they have teased a ‘special announcement’.

➤ Sandy Mitchell meanwhile will get his chance to run in a full pro lineup within the GTWC Europe Endurance cup. Customer team, K-PAX Racing will enter one of its Huracán GT3 Evo2’s in the endurance rounds with Mitchell / Franck Perera / Marco Mapelli piloting the raging bull.
