Rob Collard, the 2020 British GT champion, is set to team up with his son Ricky Collard in Barwell Motorsport’s Lamborghini for the upcoming British GT Championship. This dynamic duo has previously tasted success together, clinching a class victory at the 2020 CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. However, this season marks their first standalone campaign as a father-son pairing in the championship.

Rob Collard, who transitioned from a successful British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) career to GT racing in 2019, brings a wealth of experience to the table. He finished second in the Fanatec GT Europe’s Pro-Am standings last year with the same car and team, showcasing his consistency and skill in endurance racing. Meanwhile, Ricky Collard, a former GT3 driver with Aston Martin and a runner-up in the 2016 BRDC British F3 Championship, has been carving his own path in motorsport.

Their partnership is not only fueled by familial bonds but also by a shared ambition to excel in the British GT Championship. Rob expressed his delight at racing alongside his son, emphasizing Ricky’s speed and the strength of their collaboration. Ricky, on the other hand, sees this season as a significant challenge but is eager to prove his mettle in GT racing.

The duo’s choice of team, Barwell Motorsport, adds to their confidence. With a successful track record, including a British GT title and a class win at Spa, Barwell provides them with a competitive platform to chase victories and potentially the championship.
