Mike Price and Callum Macleod have announced their move to Optimum Motorsport for the upcoming 2025 British GT Championship, marking a significant shift in their motorsport journey.

This transition not only sees the pair join a new team but also brings a change in their GT3 machinery. After competing with Mercedes-AMG for the past two seasons, the Pro-Am duo will now drive the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. Their entry will be one of two McLaren cars fielded by the Yorkshire-based Optimum Motorsport team, which secured a respectable fifth place in the 2024 drivers’ standings with Mark Radcliffe and Tom Gamble.

Price and Macleod concluded the 2024 season in 10th place, showcasing consistency during their second campaign with Greystone GT. With their sights set on breaking into podium contention, they’re eager to capitalize on this new opportunity.

Reflecting on the switch, Price, who is entering his third British GT season, expressed his enthusiasm:
“Time can’t move fast enough for me to get behind the wheel of the McLaren 720S GT3. Optimum Motorsport is a highly respected team with a proven track record, and the McLaren package is competitive. After the progress Callum and I made with the Mercedes-AMG over the last two years, we’re aiming to build on that foundation, aiming for better results and our first podium.”

Macleod, a seasoned racer with nearly a decade of experience in British GT, also shared his excitement about the challenge of adapting to the mid-engined McLaren. Having spent most of his career with front-engined cars like the Mercedes-AMG and Bentley, this marks a significant change for the three-time race winner.

“This year is special for me—it’s been 10 years since my British GT debut,” Macleod said. “Switching to the McLaren 720S GT3 is a fresh challenge, but one I’m eager to embrace. Optimum Motorsport’s hunger for success and their expertise make them the perfect team for this transition. I believe Mike and I have the tools to be competitive, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
