The 2025 Italian GT Sprint Championship reached its decisive weekend at Monza, where teams and drivers began preparations for the final title showdown. Under bright autumn skies, Friday’s practice sessions offered an early glimpse into the balance of power between the contenders. The #1 BMW Italia-Ceccato Racing pairing of Jens Klingmann and Jesse Krohn emerged as the pace-setters, while the #106 Giacomo Race Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo of Giacomo and Matteo Pollini stunned the field by setting the outright fastest time in the morning’s mixed session.
BMW Ceccato Racing Leads GT3 Field in Afternoon Session
The final weekend of the 2025 campaign began with Klingmann and Krohn topping the second free practice session, confirming strong form in their BMW M4 GT3 ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s decisive races. The duo set a fastest lap of 1m45.541sec, narrowly edging the #55 Nova Race Honda NSX GT3 of Daniele Di Amato and Leonardo Moncini, just 0.031s behind.
AF Corse filled the next two places with its #51 Ferrari 296 GT3s, as Lorenzo Ferrari and Mahaveer Raghunathan posted a 1m45.748sec, followed by the #62 sister car of Leonardo Colavita and Ibrahim Badawi on 1m45.779sec. The #6 VSR Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Sandy Mitchell and Loris Spinelli completed the top five.
Championship leader Andrea Frassineti, sharing the sister #63 VSR Lamborghini with Edoardo Liberati, finished seventh with a 1m46.003sec.
Pollini Cousins Shock the Field in Mixed FP1

The day began with a surprise in the first combined session, as GT Cup entrants Giacomo and Matteo Pollini topped the overall times in their #106 Giacomo Race Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, clocking a 1m47.272sec to lead even the GT3 runners. Behind them, Moncini and Di Amato placed second overall with the #55 Honda, while Klingmann and Krohn took fourth as they built momentum for the afternoon’s quicker outing.
Viglietti and Ianniello Lead GT Cup Pace
In GT Cup, Vittorio Viglietti and Riccardo Ianniello went fastest for #172 DL Racing Lamborghini Huracán ST, setting a 1m45.867sec as the Huracáns dominated the class in the afternoon. Invictus Corse, Giacomo Race, and Target Racing followed closely, separated by just over half a second at the end of the 45-minute session.
Qualifying Up Next
With all four title-challenging teams—VSR, Ceccato BMW, AF Corse, and Nova Race—showing competitive pace, Saturday morning’s qualifying sessions (09:15 GT3, 10:50 GT Cup) are set to decide crucial grid positions ahead of the two double-header races that will close the 2025 season.
