Nova Race has announced the signing of 18-year-old Diego Di Fabio as one its drivers. The Pesaro-born driver will be piloting one of the teams two confirmed Mercedes-AMG GT4s for the upcoming Italian GT Sprint Championship.

“I am very proud to be able to announce that this year I will take part in the Italian GT Sprint Championship with the Mercedes-AMG GT4 of the Nova Race team,” said Di Fabio.

“It is a great honor for me to work alongside such an experienced team in motorsports and with an excellent coach like Christian Pescatori.”

Pescatori, a former Italian F3 champion and with experience in various international GT events, was in fact the one responsible for bringing Di Fabio into the team, as confirmed by Nova Race manager, Nicola Sinigaglia.

“In past seasons we already kept an eye on the guys from the formula and single-make ranks, and things got easier ever since Christian Pescatori became a regular on the Nova Race staff,” said Sinigaglia.

“He was already following Di Fabio during his campaign in the Mini Challenge and when the possibility of a test in Monza on the Mercedes-AMG GT4 came up last autumn, Pescatori suggested that it could be a good opportunity to put him to the test. Di Fabio has shown that he adapts well to the increase in power compared to the Mini, so we are pleased he’ll be joining our team, alongside a teammate we will announce at a later date.”
