Blackthorn Motorsport gears up for an exhilarating season in the British GT Championship as they introduce their dynamic driver pairing for the 2024 campaign. Matt Topham and Josh Rowledge are set to commandeer the team’s new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in what promises to be an electrifying season of racing.

The team, established in 2022, made its British GT debut last year at Silverstone with the then-current spec Vantage, driven by Claude Bovet and David McDonald. However, their sights are set higher for 2024, with a commitment to a full-time presence in the championship and a formidable driver lineup.

Topham, a seasoned contender with two GT4 Pro-Am titles under his belt, brings a wealth of experience to the team. Having tasted success with Aston Martin in the past, Topham is eager to embark on a full British GT Championship assault alongside Rowledge.

“After gaining experience in a multitude of GT3 cars over the past year I am super excited to be back for a full British GT Championship assault with Blackthorn and their new Aston Martin,” he said. “And Josh was the obvious partner; after working together in McLaren Trophy at Spa it was clear to me that we work well as a partnership.

“With the speed and consistency he has shown throughout his 2023 British GT campaign I believe we have a good foundation to build on for this season and I can’t wait to get going and bring Skully back to the front grid.”

Rowledge, at just 18 years old, has already made a name for himself in motorsport, clinching the Ginetta Junior title in 2022 before making a splash in the British GT scene last year. Now, he is poised to make the leap to GT3 competition with Blackthorn Motorsport, fueled by the ambition to conquer new challenges.

“I’m super excited to be stepping up into GT3 after having a great season last year in GT4,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to getting to grips with the New Aston Martin GT3 – with the support of Blackthorn I’m sure the transition will be smooth. Also, partnering up with Matt is awesome! We have won together before and will be aiming to do it again.”

The partnership between Topham and Rowledge promises to be a formidable force on the track, with both drivers expressing excitement about the upcoming season. With Topham’s experience and Rowledge’s raw talent, the duo aims to propel Blackthorn Motorsport to the forefront of the British GT grid.

British GT enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the official unveiling of the full-season entry list at the upcoming media day, with the season opener scheduled at Oulton Park on March 30th and April 1st.
