2 Seas Motorsport carry on from where they left off before the end of the summer break, taking GT3 pole with their #18 Mercedes. Meanwhile in GT4, Mahiki’s #84 Ginetta took a dominant pole position, leading by over 1.4 seconds.
GT3
At the end of Qualifying Group One, Kevin Tse set the pace, and Maximilian Götz sealed pole position in the second session, with a combined time of 2:46:787. The result puts the pair in a great position to shrink or even take the championship lead from the other side of the garage.
Behind them on the grid will be Blackthorn in their Aston Martin Vantage, as they trailed pole by just over two tenths. Giacomo Petrobelli had put the team in fourth after their first session, before Jonny Adam pushed the car onto the front row.
The pair trail the two in front in the Drivers’ Standings by just one point, so expect a close fight between them in the race. It’s a Barwell Motorsport three-four, with the #78 edging the #1 car by just two tenths.
Optimum Motorsport rounded out the top five as they narrowly out-qualified the championship leaders by 28 hundredths of a second. Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss will be disappointed to be down in sixth after today’s session, but it gives them some work to do tomorrow.
Beechdean Motorsport qualified seventh, with drivers Andrew Howard and Tom Wood returning to Brands Hatch this weekend after missing out on the last two rounds.
Orange Racing were probably hoping for a better result after topping the practice session this morning. However, they will start tomorrow’s race in eighth, as they qualified over a second off the pace.
Paddock Motorsport qualified ninth, Team Parker tenth, Optimum Motorsport eleventh and Bridger Motorsport’s Honda rounded out the GT3 top twelve.
GT4
In GT4, it was a flawless performance from both Jack Mitchell and Josh Miller to take class pole by over 1.4 seconds. They lead ahead of the #17 Optimum Motorsport McLaren and #71 Century Motorsport BMW.
Optimum Motorsport’s second car of Jack Brown and Marc Warren qualified fourth, followed by the #14 Century Motorsport in fifth, the #88 Mahiki Racing in sixth and the Team Parker Racing car of Jon Currie and Phil Keen in seventh position.
In the second session, Mahiki Racing’s Blake Angliss went off early on, bringing out the first red flag of qualifying. The #69 Ginetta spun off with a suspected puncture and was unable to continue due to being stuck in the gravel. They will start at the back as a result tomorrow.
The British GT will be back tomorrow for the much-anticipated 120-minute race, which gets underway at 13:00 local time, and you can watch it live on GT.REPORT/live.
