AO Racing has been rather busy in the creative department throughout 2026, debuting two new characters — Sketchy and Rockie — while also reintroducing fan favorites such as Roxy and even a golden version of Spike.

For this weekend in Detroit, however, Rexy has traded in his usual look for a set of boxing gloves and a mouthguard, ready for an old-fashioned street fight in the Motor City as the lovable green dinosaur livery receives yet another unique makeover for Saturday’s race.

Following Rexy’s teeth being knocked out once again during the Rolex 24 at Daytona, AO decided to fully embrace the moment by adding a mouthguard to the front end of the No. 77 Porsche. The boxing gloves, meanwhile, appear on the side doors of the car, replacing the traditional Mobil 1 oil can graphic featured on previous liveries from the stable.

AO Racing has leaned into Rexy’s “dental damage” before, notably adding braces to the car at Sebring last season in response to a similar incident. The team has also incorporated gold teeth into the design to signify each race victory earned throughout the season.

While Rexy himself is far from a new character, this latest variation joins a growing list of eye-catching concepts AO Racing has delivered over the years. Earlier this season, the team unveiled its Golden Spike livery to celebrate the program’s LMP2 championship-winning campaign from last year. Roxy returned following Rexy’s Daytona incident, stepping in for her brother at both Sebring and Long Beach.

At Laguna Seca, “Sketchy” went from the drawing board to the racetrack during IMSA’s Throwback Weekend, honoring the original design process behind Rexy’s creation. Meanwhile, Rockie introduces an entirely new creature for the 24 Hours of Le Mans — a Pegasus — symbolizing the team’s strong partnership with Mobil 1.

Nick Tandy and Harry King return to action aboard their No. 77 prize-fighting dinosaur on Friday, May 29, as the series begins practice and qualifying ahead of Saturday’s 100-minute showdown on the streets of Detroit.
