In a thrilling showdown at the FIA Motorsport Games, Germany clinched its first-ever gold in the GT Circuit event, triumphing over a fiercely competitive United Kingdom team. The final race saw skillful driving, intense wheel-to-wheel action, and strategic maneuvers that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The UK team, with James Cottingham behind the wheel of a Ferrari, started the race from pole position, but the German team’s Mercedes-AMG, piloted by Hubert Haupt, quickly mounted a strong challenge. Haupt managed a clean but forceful overtake at Turn 2, seizing the lead early in the contest. Cottingham proved tenacious, however, keeping close on Haupt’s tail and regularly setting competitive sector times. The pair was evenly matched, with lap times remaining within a second of each other.

After a fast-paced opening, the United Kingdom’s team encountered a brief delay during their pit stop, giving Germany’s Finn Wiebelhaus an opportunity to extend the lead. Yet, Chris Froggatt, who took over for the UK, wasted no time and began hunting down Wiebelhaus. Froggatt’s aggressive pursuit of the lead ultimately cost him, as he earned a five-second penalty for track limit violations. He did manage to pass Wiebelhaus in a bold move, but with the penalty in place, he needed to build a five-second cushion to secure the win.

Froggatt continued to push, but another track limits penalty dashed the UK’s chances. Wiebelhaus kept the German car within range, securing the win once the penalties were factored in, and taking home Germany’s maiden GT Circuit gold.

Switzerland rounded out the podium with a last-lap surge by Yannick Mettler, who overtook Spain’s Jorge Cabezas Catalán to secure the bronze. Starting the race with Dexter Müller, the Swiss Mercedes-AMG team steadily climbed up the field, capitalizing on strong second-stint performance by Mettler.

The electrifying finale delivered a historic gold for Germany, with all three medal-winning teams showcasing exceptional skill and resilience throughout the race.
