Former British GT3 champions Darren Leung and Dan Harper are making a high-profile return to the British GT Championship, reuniting for a special appearance at the upcoming Silverstone 500 on April 26–27.
The duo, who secured the 2023 title together, have continued to race side-by-side in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, and recently claimed a second-place class finish at Paul Ricard. Now, they’re bringing their continental campaign setup — including the debuting BMW M4 GT3 Evo and Paradine Competition, Leung’s newly established team — to the UK for the endurance classic.
Although they contested the 2024 edition of the 500 separately, this marks the first time Leung and Harper return as a team to the Silverstone race since their victory in 2023. Leung, who also competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship, narrowly missed out on a win at last year’s event due to a refuelling issue while guest-driving with Century and Dries Vanthoor. This time, he’s determined to settle the score.
“The Evo is pretty similar to the previous M4, which I think I could — and maybe should — have won the last two 500s with,” Leung said. “This race just suits my style — the endurance format, the strategic depth — and Dan’s always quick here. Without points to worry about, it’s simple: we’re aiming for the win.”
Harper, now a full BMW factory driver and also racing in IMSA this season, echoed Leung’s enthusiasm: “I’m really excited to be back on the British GT grid, even if it’s just for this one-off. It’s been a hectic year in Europe and North America, so squeezing in a race at home is a real bonus. Our 2023 Silverstone 500 win was a pivotal moment in our title run, and we’d love to repeat that success.”
More guest entries for the Silverstone 500 are expected to be announced later this week.
