The second DTM race at Oschersleben unfolded under clear skies, basking in glorious sunshine setting the stage for an intense battle. Jules Gounon, who had secured pole position, led the field at the start, fending off Jordan Pepper in his Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2. However, the race dynamics shifted dramatically during the first mandatory pit stop window.

Ayhancan Güven, starting from fourth, executed a perfectly timed tyre change, allowing him to seize the lead. His strategic prowess saw him cross the finish line 2.695 seconds ahead of Gounon, securing his maiden DTM victory. Thomas Preining, in the second Manthey EMA Porsche, completed the podium with a strong drive to third place.

The new race format, requiring a second mandatory pit stop in Sunday’s races, added further intrigue. Güven maintained his composure, executing both stops flawlessly to retain his lead. Gounon reclaimed second, while Preining’s aggressive overtakes propelled him to third, ahead of Pepper and René Rast.

Marco Wittmann made an impressive comeback, gaining seven positions from his starting place of 13th. His strong performance, coupled with well-executed pit stops, allowed him to secure valuable points for Schubert Motorsport.
