Frikadelli Racing is turning its focus in the 2025 season toward historic motorsport. Team principal Klaus Abbelen will campaign the storied and legendary Porsche 962 in FIA Classic events. This Friday, during practice for NLS3, the team will also conduct a shakedown of their Ferrari 296 GT3 on the Nordschleife.
“I’ve long wanted to run the Porsche 962 in competition again, and now the time has come,” says Abbelen. “Over the winter we picked it up from the Ring°Werk museum, where we also displayed our winning Ferrari 296 GT3 from the 2023 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and have since prepped it for the track. I’m really looking forward to reliving the Group C races I contested in this car.”
The 962 in question raced in the 1990s at Daytona by Andretti. In 2025, Frikadelli Racing will enter the Peter Auto series, which features historic races such as the Spa and Le Mans Classics. The grids comprise sports prototypes, touring cars, and GTs spanning the 1950s through the 1990s. Additional historic appearances are planned, including the Nürburgring Classic and the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
“The Peter Auto series is incredibly appealing, with so many cars that have written motorsport history,” Abbelen adds. “I’m thrilled that we’ll be part of it.”
24 Hours Nürburgring not on the cards – NLS entry targeted for September
Outside of these historic outings, Abbelen intends to contest a solo entry in an NLS round on the Nordschleife in September.
For 2025-2026, Frikadelli Racing will also double down on customer racing, aiming to offer enthusiasts a fully professional, turnkey package—from car preparation through on-track support.
