The RAVENOL ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers continued on Sunday morning ahead of Race 2, with a subdued atmosphere in the paddock as the day began with qualifying for the afternoon’s race. Pole position was ultimately decided in the Top Qualifying shootout, where Thierry Vermeulen secured the top spot for the #45 REALIZE KONDO RACING with Rinaldi Ferrari 296 GT3.
Qualifying
The initial qualifying session saw a late flurry of improvements as drivers pushed for a place in the Top Qualifying shootout.
The final moments proved decisive, as Christian Krognes delivered a standout lap in the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to secure pole position in the session by over two seconds — remarkably carrying a stuck cone under the front splitter across the line.
Alessio Picariello followed in the #17 Dunlop Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R but was unable to improve on the Norwegian’s time.
Top Qualifying
With 37 cars progressing to Top Qualifying, the fight for overall pole position — and a guaranteed place in Top Qualifying for the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring — began on a clear track.
Thierry Vermeulen set the decisive time in the #45 REALIZE KONDO RACING with Rinaldi Ferrari 296 GT3 on his opening lap, posting an 8m10.275s lap to claim pole position.
He edged out David Jahn, who had taken Saturday’s pole and again impressed in the #23 Gamota Racing BMW M4 GT3, finishing just 0.001s behind.
Both drivers set their best times on their first runs, with the second laps unable to improve on those benchmarks. Christopher Haase bounced back from a minor incident in the earlier qualifying to take third in the #16 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 with an 8m11.240s lap.
Thomas Preining secured fourth in the #911 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, lining up alongside Haase on the second row.
Behind them, Lucas Auer placed the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 fifth, followed by Adam Christodoulou in the #26 PROsport Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The top ten was completed by Jay Mo Härtling in the #11 Schnitzelalm Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, Tobias Müller in the #48 LOSCH Motorsport by BLACK FALCON Porsche 911 GT3 R, Luca Stolz in the #80 Mercedes-AMG Team RAVENOL Mercedes-AMG GT3, and Piana in the #5 BLACK FALCON Team EAE Porsche.
Misfortune struck the Porsche entries from Schnabl Engineering, as the #17 Dunlop Porsche 911 GT3 R returned to the pits with damage after the warm up lap, while the #44 Falken Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R ended its run in the barriers on its first flying lap.
