DTM on Saturday at Zandvoort unfolded in a fierce battle between Jules Gounon and Bastian Buus. The duo was locked in a constant fight from the start, and around ten minutes before the end the tension rose. Gounon, in his Mercedes‑AMG GT3, got alongside the Danish driver from Land Motorsport in his Porsche 911 GT3 R into Turn 1, but was pushed wide leaving Gounon unhappy and Buus receiving a warning from the stewards.
The battle between them had already begun at the start. “I got contact with him twice at the beginning of the race,” a frustrated Gounon explains to GT REPORT. “I think in the code of conduct of DTM, you always need to leave a space.”
When the final ten minutes arrived and with not many chances left, the fight became even fiercer, with the Mercedes being pushed wide again and Gounon left unhappy as Buus received only a warning. “I hope I can go and see the stewards to have an explanation, because the penalties should always be consistent and I just felt it wasn’t.”

“I was hoping he was going to leave me a little bit of space,” Gounon continues as he explains his point of view. “I always try to leave a little bit of space when people are next to me. Today, I felt I had no space.”
The Mann‑Filter driver has no regrets about these kinds of battles. “It’s hard racing and I don’t mind.” But he hopes it remains fair. “It needs to be the same for the rest of the season.”
Buus finished the race in fourth position as Gounon stayed behind him and ended up fifth
