Antonelli Motorsport won the penultimate Italian GT Championship (CIGT) Endurance round at Imola on the same day Kimi, team owner Marco Antonelli’s son, won the Formula 1 race at Monza. Ferrari and Guy Albag led throughout in the #64 AKM Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3, the win completing a day to remember for the Antonelli family.

“The key was not making mistakes,” Lorenzo Ferrari told GT REPORT. “We had the pace to win and we showed it.

“We always timed that final stop to try to stay clear of a safety car or any trouble that could have cost us, so we’re thrilled. We maximised everything, and I want to thank Marco Antonelli for the opportunity.”

The result also moved the pairing to the front of the title fight. Albag and Ferrari now lead the outright GT3 standings on 56 points, with one round left to run at Mugello.
