The #30 Silver Cup WRT BMW M4 GT3 line-up of Ignacio Montenegro and Matisse Lismont claimed their respective GT World Challenge Europe championships early on, and also in Endurance the success didn’t stop, with Amaury Cordeel being the third teammate (and Mathieu Detry being the fourth, as he only drove at the Spa 24 Hours). Now, in the final round of the season in Portimao, the Belgian-based team has decided to show that success on track, as they arrived with a golden touch while the fights for the overall team championship heats up, together with their two Pro cars.

After standing on the podium in their class in 11 of 14 races this season across both the Endurance and Sprint Cup, including five victories, it’s safe to say the almost all-Belgian driver line-up has dominated the season. The only non-Belgian is 21-year-old Argentinian GTWCE debutant Ignacio Montenegro, who is also competing in GT3 machinery for the first time.
“For me, it really started to click at Brands Hatch. I would say that’s where I felt more confident with the car and able to push it to its limits on track.”
At round two of the championship, which also marked the opening Sprint Cup weekend of the season, the former touring car champion secured his first pole position and went on to finish first and second respectively in the two one-hour races.
“The season has been amazing, to be here with the Pro drivers; I learned a lot from them,” said the Silver Cup champion with a bright smile to GT REPORT and ACCES.
WRT recently claimed the Sprint Cup Team Championship at the previous round in Barcelona. Heading into the final as team leaders with the #30, and with their Pro cars, the #32 and #46, defending a five-point lead over Winward Racing* and 38.5 points over Lionspeed GP, the fight is still on at the three-hours endurance race and getting their Silver entry car into the overall points would certainly help a lot.
Winward Racing #48 could still get disqualified from race 2 in Misano where they finished third.
