Kuba Giermaziak became the first polesitter in the history of the VLN Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) 12 Hours of the Nürburgring. The #16 Scherer Sport Team Phoenix Audi R8 LMS GT3 pilot set an 8m19.189sec lap in the dying minutes of a wet qualifying.

Qualifying started in rainy conditions but improved over the duration of the two-hour session. As a dry line appeared towards the end, Giermaziak was one of many to go out on track for a crack at pole. The Pole beat the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 of Christian Krognes by 1.53 seconds.

Most impressive, however, was the third place taken by the #104 Black Falcon Team Identica Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. Already a proven outright winner at the Nordschleife, Gabriele Piana led a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup dominated top 10 with an 8m27.716sec. A final dash by teammate Tobias Müller was thwarted only by traffic at the end of his lap.

Frank Stippler managed a fourth starting position for the #5 Scherer Sport Team Phoenix Audi R8 LMS GT3, ahead of the #23 Lionspeed by Car Collection Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3.

The first 6 hours of the race are held on Saturday with the remainder completed on Sunday. Watch the race live on GT.REPORT/live starting at 14:30 CEST.
