With less than two months until the Oulton Park season opener, the announcements keep on coming in what is shaping up to be yet another fantastic season of British GT.

➤ Century Motorsport confirmed their expected GT3 program this week. Hoping to continue his 100% British GT win record is Darren Leung who joined forces with Alex Sims for last year’s Donington Decider and clinched victory on his debut in GT3 machinery. However, joining him will be BMW young gun and former Carrera Cup GB champion, Dan Harper who has recently been upgraded to a gold status driver.

Paddock Motorsport announced the first of what is expected to be two GT3 entries for the 2023 season. With Kelvin Fletcher having stepped down from his team duties, sole team owner, Martin Plowman will share the McLaren 720s GT3 with Mark Smith. Smith competed with Plowman in last year’s Donington Decider where he showed strong pace amongst the AM class runners. Whilst the final result didn’t do this justice, they will both be expecting big things from 2023.

➤ The ex-Balfe Motorsport Audi could be set to return to action within the UK this year. Former Britcar and GT Cup race winner, Hugo Cook has since acquired the Audi (still complete with British GT sun strip) and as of today has had all of his sponsor’s decals applied to the car (as seen below). Where he will compete is currently yet to be announced.

➤ 2019 GT4 champion, Tom Canning will return to the UK for 2023. However not in British GT but rather GT Cup in the Feathers Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT4. A car which was previously piloted by none other than Darren Turner (who happens to be business partners with James Guess, the car owner).

➤ Before they embark on their first full-season campaign in British GT, Team Orange has been out competing in the Asian Le Mans Series at the Dubai Autodrome this weekend. Regular drivers Simon Orange / Michael O’Brien joined forces with key rival, Marcus Clutton in the pair of 4-hour races. Unfortunately, mechanical issues scuppered any chances of good results but O’Brien did set the fastest lap of the race (within GT3) during Sunday’s contest.

➤ Enduro Motorsport meanwhile have been pressing on despite Clutton being otherwise engaged in Dubai. Whilst no official announcement has been made yet, Morgan Tillbrook has been out testing the McLaren 720s GT3 at Oulton Park in preparation for the season opener in April.

➤ Century Motorsport has also been out testing with their M4 GT3. Outings at Silverstone and Oulton Park have been noted so far with the priority of ensuring the car is ready for the UK race season after a troubled outing at the Gulf 12 Hours towards the end of 2022.
