Ben Dörr secured his first DTM pole position after topping Qualifying 2 at the Nürburgring. Driving the #25 Dörr Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3, Dörr set the fastest lap of 1m25.620s, just 0.100 seconds clear of Lucas Auer in the #22 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Gilles Magnus placed the #7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in third. Jordan Pepper in the #63 TGI by GRT Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 initially qualified fourth, but yesterday’s penalty dropped him to ninth, promoting Jules Gounon in the #48 Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to fifth place.

Yesterday’s race winner Jack Aitken had to settle for P16 in the #14 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, giving Lucas Auer a chance to fight back in the championship battle. Aitken’s teammate Ben Green, in the #10 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, will start from P22 after receiving a penalty for forcing Marco Wittmann off track in Saturday’s race.

“It’s just unbelievable, an epic lap today,” Dörr said after qualifying. “We proved what we’re capable of and the feeling is amazing. Thanks to the whole team, to McLaren, to everyone. The lap felt perfect; I put everything together and that’s the result we got. Today is also my dad’s birthday, so I think it’s the perfect gift. Thanks to everybody.”
