Championship races shift as race thunders into second half

Petit Le Mans has found a rhythm as the craziness from the opening stage has seemed to subside. BMW is now entering the conversation as they have found speed as the afternoon progresses. The only problem for BMW is that it is starting to look like the first half of the season. Porsche also has found speed and now are leading the race over the early leaders from Meyer Shank Acura. In contrast, the Aston Martin Valkyrie has fell down the order after running 3rd at one point.

The only big moment of this second stage of the race was around the 3 hour mark. AJ Muss in the #021 Triarsi Ferrari spun at the exit of the esses in Turn 5. While waiting for a hole to get the vehicle turned around, he was clobbered by Sebastian Alvarez in the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca.

The Championship leaders #6 Penske Porsche with Matt Jaminet leads overall, but not my much. Earl Bamber in the #31 Whelen Cadillac is closing in on the front. Championship contenders #22 United Autosports lead in LMP2 with Rasmus Lindh at the wheel. Paul Miller Racing #48 continues to lead in GTD PRO with Germany’s Max Hesse aboard. Last, but not least, Simon Mann controls GTD in the #21 AF Corse Ferrari.
