Lionspeed started Race 2 of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup Powered by AWS from pole position and stayed on top until the end. With a flag-to-flag victory, Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller delivered the #80 Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R its first success in the Pro class. The #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing of Dani Juncadella and Chris Lulham finished second after having their win taken away in Race 1. The #48 Mercedes-AMG Winward Racing of Lucas Auer and Maro Engel finished third.

Buus Leads the Charge, Feller Finishes Lionspeed’s Historic Win

Bastian Buus made a strong start from pole on a track he describes as unforgiving, but he put together a faultless opening stint. He held off the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing entry of Chris Lulham, who attempted to sweep around the outside for the lead at the start

Engel started from fourth position; the experienced driver had an impressive start, going from fourth to third.

With the top three established, they remained largely unchallenged for the rest of the race. The only incident came from the #48 Winward Mercedes, which received a five-second pit stop penalty after a mechanic was over the white line at release. Despite this, Auer maintained strong pace and built enough of a gap to secure third place.

After power steering issues at Paul Ricard and again in Race 1 earlier on Sunday – forcing a retirement despite strong pace – the wait finally paid off.

The team secured their first‑ever Pro Class win with Ricardo Feller taking the chequered flag.

Gold Cup Chaos, Silver Cup Control at Brands Hatch

Alex Aka held the Gold Cup lead in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 for Tresor Attempto Racing. Not long after, he seized an opportunity when Pro-class driver Dorian Boccolacci in the #2 Porsche 911 GT3 R for Boutsen VDS ran wide at Turn 1, triggering a move for position.

What followed was a hard-fought battle, but it ultimately ended in frustration for Aka. Contact left the Audi with a puncture, forcing his retirement. Boccolacci was later deemed at fault and handed a 15-second time penalty.

There was less action in the Silver Cup. Ignacio Montenegro held the class lead from the start, before Matisse Lismont took over after the pit stop cycle. From there, the #30 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 never looked back, completing a perfect weekend after also winning Race 1 earlier on the day.

Spa preparations and a key run of endurance races

Next on the calendar is the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa Prologue on 19-20 May, giving teams valuable track time ahead of the main event. The Endurance Cup then continues at Monza on 29-31 May for Round 3.

The highlight of the season follows with the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, held from 24-28 June.

Sprint Cup action resumes after Spa, with the next round taking place at Misano on 17-19 July.
