Following a frightening accident during Friday’s GT World Challenge America test session, Dollahite Racing rebounded in remarkable fashion as Alex Sedgwick and Cameron Lawrence guided the rebuilt No. 6 Ford Mustang GT3 EVO to a second-place finish overall and in the Pro class, giving the team added momentum heading into Road Atlanta in June.

Despite an extensive overnight rebuild after Sedgwick’s Turn 10 incident, the team returned to the track Saturday with little preparation time and immediately showed competitive speed. With only a handful of laps completed prior to the race, Dollahite Racing still managed to contend near the front throughout the event.

“Yeah, it’s huge,” said Sedgwick. “It was one of those freak things — an unfortunate component failure that nearly destroyed the entire car. For the guys to work all night long and not even go home just to get this thing ready, it really means a lot. I think the longest run either of us had before the race was maybe four laps, so we had very little information and not much to go off of. To end up with a P2 finish is huge. What could have been a championship-ending weekend ended up, with a bit of luck, being pretty good for us.”

The podium continued a promising start to the season for the Ford-backed operation. Through the opening three races of 2026, the team has already captured two Pro-class podium finishes as it continues developing the Mustang GT3 EVO package. Sedgwick credited the steady progress to the collaboration between the drivers, engineers, and Ford support.

“We first drove the car essentially at Sonoma, so we’ve had very little information and very little testing,” Sedgwick said. “But every time we go out, we make progress, and I think that speaks volumes about the team, Skinner — our engineer — Cameron and I, along with the support we’ve gotten from Ford and how we’re all working together. We’ve just got to keep moving forward, keep fixing the areas we still need to improve, and hopefully we can finish the season strong.”

GT World Challenge America returns June 12-14 at Road Atlanta, a weekend that also overlaps with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and could potentially create driver lineup changes throughout the paddock.
