Verstappen Racing has been hit by trouble at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, with the race-leading #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 brought into the garage after an ABS warning was followed by noises and vibrations.
Head Of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Stefan Wendl explained that Daniel Juncadella initially felt he could manage the ABS issue, but after two laps the car had to pit unexpectedly. The team then discovered driveshaft damage, which had caused further collateral damage.
The car is now being repaired, with the team aiming to return to the race.
Winward Racing’s other car, the #80 Mercedes-AMG Team RAVENOL Mercedes-AMG GT3, has taken over the lead with Fabian Schiller at the wheel, leading the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 several minutes behind.
