Throughout the Nürburgring 24 Hours weekend, Marek Böckmann will share exclusive behind-the-scenes insights from inside the #26 PROsport Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
After a short night and several late stints in the Mercedes-AMG GT3, Böckmann looks ahead to the final hours of the Nürburgring 24h as PROsport Racing fights inside the top ten overall.
We’ve been pretty much flat out during the last two days. I just got up after trying to get a little bit of sleep.
I was driving quite a lot during the very late evening hours and through the night, and I’ll be back in the car shortly after 10 o’clock. So yeah, it was a very short night with not a lot of sleep.
At the moment we are running P8 from what I saw, but it’s a really tight fight between the cars from around P7 to P10, so it’s hard to say exactly where we stand right now. I think we are one lap behind the front runners. They have a really strong pace and it’s hard to keep up with them.
Realistically, I think we can finish somewhere around the top six or top seven overall, and that’s our main target at the moment. As I said, I’ll be back in the car around 10 or quarter past 10 for another stint, and then we’ll see where we end up later in the race.
What’s really interesting is how quick this race has been. Everybody is doing very fast lap times, so we really can’t afford to make mistakes because every second costs you a lot around here and it’s almost impossible to get the time back.
There’s definitely a lot of pressure to keep delivering strong pace on track, but at the moment things are looking quite good for us. The car is working really well, so overall we’re in a decent position heading into the final hours.
