AO Racing and Absolute Racing announce Wednesday a partnership for an entry in next month’s Suzuka 1000km. The American IMSA stalwarts will team up with the Hong Kong-based regulars of GT World Challenge Asia to field a Porsche entry in the Intercontinental GT Challenge round. The two teams will receive further support from Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific.

The Porsche factory-backed effort will receive the star factory-driver treatment as well. Laurin Heinrich, Alessio Picariello and Julien Andlauer have been tapped to pilot the Pro class entry.

And with AO Racing involved, this car has to have character. “Rexy,” the team’s beloved dinosaur mascot for their GT livery, is receiving a Japanese glow-up. “Bushi Rex” is the latest dino to emerge from the AO character universe. Bushi Rex – Bushi is Japanese for warrior – is a samurai-inspired Japanese dino livery that should win their ways into Japanese fans very quick.

To compliment their new paint scheme, the team announced they will have merchandise sales available on-site throughout the race weekend.

Catch “Bushi Rex” the No. 8 AO Racing/Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 “Rawr” in the Suzuka 1000km September 11-13. The entire weekend will be streamed on the GT World YouTube channel.
