BMW Team Teo Martín and Luzich Racing took the spoils in last weekend’s duo of International GT Open races at Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

In the first race it were BMW drivers Fran Rueda and Andrés Saravia who took the win after a thrilling final battle with the RS Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 of Daniele Di Amato and Andrea Montermini. Mikkel Mac who had finished fifth together with Luzich Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 team-mate Alessandro Pier Guidi momentarily lost the championship lead to Rueda and Saravia, but then came back swinging the next day as Mac and Pier Guidi took the win and returned to the top of the championship standings. The Teo Martín BMW took second place on Sunday, giving Rueda and Saravia a proper shot at the title for the season finale in Barcelona.

At the finish of the second race a violent accident occurred when Drivex pilot Alan Hellmeister speared off at top-speed. The Brazilian was extracted from his disintegrated Mercedes-AMG GT3 with broken legs.
