After a successful debut event at Le Mans in 2025, Mustang Challenge will return to the international stage in 2027 as a support series for the 24 Hours of Spa with the Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational, scheduled for June 25-28.

Nearly 40 cars took the green flag in last year’s Le Mans Invitational, which attracted many high-profile drivers from a variety of racing disciplines to compete in the non-points-paying event. Since then, Ford’s Mustang one-make platform has expanded with the addition of Mustang Challenge Australia, alongside the continued growth of Mustang Challenge North America and Mustang Cup North America.

While the 2027 calendars for the three single-make Ford championships have yet to be revealed, the addition of Spa will likely require adjustments due to the logistical challenges of transporting cars and equipment overseas for the event.

“In 2025, all eyes were on the Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid and the Mustang one-make series in particular, as Mustang Challenge held its first international event, the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational,” Ford Racing Global Customer Manager, Chris Ward, stated. “Today, we are excited to announce that Ford Racing will hold our next marquee global invitational event at another legendary European circuit, Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian track will host the Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational in 2027. The goal is to again bring competitors from around the globe to compete in support of a major 24-hour race, the 24 Hours of Spa.”

“The Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational was a great success, with over three-dozen Mustang Dark Horse R race cars competing at the Circuit de la Sarthe. After seeing the reaction to Mustang Challenge going international, we knew we should continue on the path of making Mustang One-Make a global platform. There are many great options, but the 24 Hours of Spa seemed the natural follow-up event to Le Mans.”
