The highly anticipated Honda NSX GT3 will finally make its debut in the British GT Championship this season, as Bridger Motorsport steps up to the series with drivers Chun Cheong “Johnny” Ip and Luke Garlick.

Bridger Motorsport, established in 2015, has primarily competed in national single-seater racing but now takes a bold leap into GT3 competition. The team, backed by Honda’s development partner JAS Motorsport, will run the NSX GT3 Evo 22, a car that has been in global competition since its first iteration in 2016 but is only now entering the British GT fold.

For Hong Kong’s Johnny Ip, who previously competed with Bridger in Monoposto and British Endurance events, the opportunity to race in British GT is a milestone moment.

“This year, I am proud to be competing in the British GT Championship, a stage where some of the world’s best GT racers push the limits,” said Ip. “The NSX GT3 Evo 22 represents precision and performance, and racing it here is a dream come true.”

Teaming up with Ip is 18-year-old Luke Garlick, a familiar name in British motorsport after winning the 2023 Ginetta GT5 Challenge Pro title. His transition to GT3 marks a significant step in his career, and he’s eager to take on the challenge.

“I am very excited to start my GT3 journey with Bridger Motorsport and Honda,” said Garlick. “Having previously raced Ginettas, this is a new challenge for me, but I’m confident we can make our mark on the grid.”

Bridger Motorsport’s team principal, Jay Bridger, a former British F3 National Class champion, acknowledges the challenge ahead but is optimistic about the season.

“This is a massive step up for us as a team,” Bridger said. “We’re the only Honda on the grid, so there’s a lot to learn, but our testing has gone well, and I believe our drivers will make a big impression.”

The British GT season kicks off with a media day at Silverstone on March 21, followed by the opening round at Donington Park on April 5-6. Fans can attend the media day for free by reserving tickets at silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-championship.
