Mahiki Racing is gearing up for its second season in the British GT Championship, and a familiar duo is set to take the wheel of one of its three Lotus Emira GT4 cars. Ian Duggan and Joe Wheeler, who previously teamed up in 2023, will join forces once again for the 2025 season, piloting the team’s second entry.
Duggan, a seasoned competitor, is no stranger to Mahiki Racing. Last year, he raced alongside Gordie Mutch, achieving a standout third-place finish at Silverstone. That result helped secure a respectable 10th place in the overall standings and fifth in the Pro-Am category. “It’s great to return to Mahiki Racing for their sophomore season,” Duggan said. “I’m excited for what promises to be another thrilling year on the track.”
For Wheeler, the 2025 season marks a return to action after a relatively low-key 2024. The 21-year-old, who entered the British GT scene three years ago, has spent his prior GT4 campaigns driving Ginettas, including a stint with Duggan at Toro Verde in 2023. Now, he’s ready to tackle the Lotus Emira GT4, a car that debuted in the championship last year with Mahiki. “Teaming up with Ian again feels like a natural fit after our strong finish in 2023,” Wheeler said. “Joining Mahiki and driving the Lotus is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m aiming for a competitive season.”
Mahiki Racing kicked off its 2025 preparations last week by unveiling its revamped lineup. Former GT4 champion Jack Mitchell will pair with Steven Lake in one of the team’s Emiras, while a third car is slated to compete in the Silver class. With three Lotus Emira GT4s in its stable, Mahiki is poised to make a bold statement this year.
Fans will get their first glimpse of the team’s new lineup at the British GT media day on March 21 at Silverstone. Free tickets are available for the event at Silverstone’s official website. The championship itself kicks off with a double-header at Donington Park on April 5-6, launching a seven-round, nine-race season that promises plenty of excitement.
As Duggan and Wheeler prepare to reignite their partnership, all eyes will be on Mahiki Racing to see if its growing momentum can translate into a podium-topping 2025.
