The DMSB Court of Appeal has rejected TGI Team by GRT’s appeal against Mirko Bortolotti’s disqualification from Oschersleben’s DTM Race 2. The ruling confirms the revised Sunday race classification, with Maro Engel as the winner and the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 still without a DTM victory.
Wheel bearing ruled non-compliant
The court upheld the stewards’ decision to disqualify the #63 TGI Team by GRT Lamborghini Temerario GT3 for a breach of Article 5.1 of the Sporting Regulations. The article requires every part listed in the FIA GT3 or DTM GT3 homologation to be used exactly as supplied by the manufacturer. Any change to specification, material, weight or function is banned, and the manufacturer’s spare parts can serve as a reference to check compliance. The breach was found during routine post-race checks on four cars. Officials seized the wheel bearing on Bortolotti’s car and found it did not match the DTM GT3 homologation or the designated reference part.
Revised result now final
The provisional result becomes official. Engel keeps the victory in the #80 Mercedes-AMG Team Ravenol Mercedes-AMG GT3. Thomas Preining takes second in the #91 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, and Marco Wittmann is third in the #11 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. All drivers classified behind Bortolotti move up one place.
The decision ends Bortolotti’s hopes of a first DTM win since the Red Bull Ring in 2024. It also confirms that the Temerario GT3’s first recognised race win belongs to Pfaff Motorsports at Road America in IMSA.
