Over the course of this past week, IMSA has unveiled the first full-season teams for the upcoming 2027 season. Four teams were confirmed by the sanctioning body to return to the grid for next year.
Car Blanche
The first entry confirmed by IMSA was on Sunday. Car Blanche by YRB Racing confirmed their full-season attack on GTD PRO for 2027. The team purchased the assets and took over the entry of Van Der Steur Racing in June. The team would go back-and-forth between GTD and GTD PRO for the midseason enduros. But starting at VIR, the team has permanently been in GTD PRO. This comes as no surprise as this was the team’s plan for some time.
Car Blanche will be the first full-season GTD PRO program for Aston Martin since Heart of Racing in 2024. Piloting the No. 68 Vantage will be Valentin Hasse-Clot and Aston Martin factory driver Marco Sorenson.
Winward Racing
Two-time defending GTD champs and current GTD points leaders Winward Racing confirmed their place on the 2027 grid on Wednesday. Why mess with a good thing? The team will continue with Mercedes-AMG. No changes in the driver lineup either as Russell Ward and Philip Ellis will return for the team’s sixth full season in America’s top-flight sportscar championship.
Multimatic Motorsports
Finally, Ford Racing and Multimatic Motorsports confirmed Friday their two-car factory GTD PRO program will return next season. Ford will keep stability in the driver lineups as well. Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker will stay in the No. 64 Mustang. Meanwhile, Christopher Mies and Frederic Vervisch remain as the drivers for the No. 65.
Ford emphatically reaffirms their commitment to the Mustang GT3 platform with a fourth straight season in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
With IMSA convening next weekend for the final round of the season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, expect more confirmations to come beyond this week and well into the offseason.
