NASCAR Xfinity Series driver for Richard Childress Racing, Jesse Love, is set to return to the Mazda MX-5 Cup next weekend, competing for BSI Racing in the No. 2 Whelen-branded entry.
A short break in the Xfinity Series schedule has allowed Love to take part in next weekend’s festivities at Mid-Ohio, which will be headlined by the Michelin Pilot Challenge’s four-hour enduro.
Love previously competed in Mazda MX-5 Cup action last season with Hendrick Motorsports at Sebring International Raceway. He finished a weekend-high 12th in Race Two and 18th in his series debut.
The 2023 ARCA Menards Series champion, Love has collected two career wins over the past two seasons with RCR, including his season-opening victory at Daytona in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He has also made select starts at the Cup Series level—driving the No. 33 for RCR and, this year, piloting the No. 62 for Beard Motorsports at Texas.
“I’m thrilled to be representing Whelen’s Everyday Champion initiative with BSI Racing in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin,” Love said in a Mid-Ohio press release.
“It’s a privilege to celebrate those who make our country the greatest on earth, and I’m so excited to do so at Mid-Ohio this June. This is an exciting challenge—BSI and the MX-5 Cup are known for some of the best racing out there, and I can’t wait to give it my best. Thank you to BSI Racing, Mazda Motorsports, and Whelen Engineering for this opportunity.”
