The 2026-27 Formula E calendar has been unveiled, featuring new markets for the championship and an updated race format designed to showcase the performance and capabilities of the Gen4 car in its debut season.

The expanded 21-round schedule introduces three new venues. Circuit of The Americas (COTA) joins the U.S. swing in February alongside the return of Miami, marking the first time Formula E will host two events in the United States during the same season. In Europe, Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands joins the calendar, while London receives a refresh as Brands Hatch replaces the street circuit that has served as the championship’s season finale venue since Formula E’s inaugural season.

Alongside the expanded schedule, Formula E will introduce changes to its race weekend format for both single-race and doubleheader events. Single-race weekends will feature a 45-minute timed race incorporating Pit Boost, highlighting energy management and strategic decision-making.

Doubleheader weekends will consist of one traditional E-Prix race and a new format called “E-Prix Unleashed,” a 30-minute, no-stop sprint designed to emphasize outright performance. Eight of the season’s 13 race weekends will be doubleheaders featuring both race formats, with the final seven events of the campaign utilizing the revised structure. Free Practice and Qualifying formats will remain unchanged, while a shakedown session will be added before each race weekend. Additionally, more championship points will be awarded in Qualifying.

The 2026-27 season begins Dec. 18-19 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where the new doubleheader format will make its debut. The series returns in January for the first of four single-race events in the Americas, beginning with Mexico City on Jan. 16.

Formula E then heads to Austin for its inaugural COTA event on Feb. 6 before returning to the Miami International Autodrome on Feb. 20. Round 6 concludes the Americas swing in São Paulo on March 13 before the championship travels to Sanya, China, on April 17 for the final single-race weekend of the season.

The second half of the campaign begins with two familiar stops. Rounds 8 and 9 will take place on the streets of Berlin on May 8-9 before Formula E heads to one of its marquee events in Monaco on May 15-16. The end of May brings Brands Hatch’s Formula E debut on May 29-30, replacing London’s previous venue, before the series travels to the Netherlands for Circuit Zandvoort on June 18-19.

The European portion of the schedule concludes in Madrid on June 27-28. The final two race weekends take the championship back to Asia, with Shanghai hosting rounds on July 10-11 before the season finale on the streets of Tokyo on July 24-25.

“We are incredibly proud to unveil our biggest and most ambitious calendar to date,” Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E, said. “Expanding to 21 races across 13 iconic cities is a huge milestone, and welcoming world-renowned tracks like COTA in Austin, Zandvoort and Brands Hatch provides the ultimate stage to showcase our new Gen4 era.

“Every stop on this calendar has been chosen to deliver maximum sporting drama. Launching the season with our first-ever opener under the lights in Jeddah to demonstrate the speed of these Gen4 cars sets a spectacular tone, while grouping our races into distinct continental clusters ensures we do so as sustainably as possible. The tracks are faster, the competition is fiercer, and we cannot wait to get this historic season underway.”

The 2025-26 championship season continues next weekend with Rounds 12 and 13 in Shanghai as Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans looks to extend his championship lead over defending champion Oliver Rowland.
