Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR team Victor Gonzalez Racing is set to switch manufacturers beginning at Road America, moving to the Cupra Leon VZ TCR.
The team’s most recent race resulted in a third-place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park — their swan song with the Hyundai Elantra N. Throughout the 2025 season, the family-operated program has run two Elantras, with the No. 18 entry now officially parked, effective immediately, according to VGR.
VGR becomes the second team on the Michelin Pilot Challenge grid to field a Cupra TCR car, following Gou Racing, which helped launch the manufacturer’s IMSA debut this season.
Gou Racing, which has made sporadic starts this year, will return to the grid at Road America alongside VGR, marking the first-ever Michelin Pilot Challenge race to feature two Cupra-backed entries.
“This is a new chapter for the team, and we are ready for the challenge ahead,” said Gonzalez Jr. to SportsCar 365. “I have been closely watching the brand-new CUPRA Leon VZ TCR during the 2025 season and it is a solid race car.”
