Maro Engel took victory in DTM Red Bull Ring Race 2 in the #80 Mercedes-AMG Team Ravenol Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo after a well-managed race.

Clean Opening Lap

Kelvin van der Linde in the #3 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo made a clean start and maintained his position, while Engel moved up to second. Lucas Auer in the #22 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo followed in third, as Finn Wiebelhaus in the #64 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 dropped to fourth.

During the first pit window, several drivers including Thomas Preining in the #91 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, Bastian Buus in the #29 Land-Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R, Arjun Maini in the #36 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3, Timo Glock in the #16 Dörr Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, and Tom Kalender in the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo made early stops.

Engel and Auer pitted on the following lap, while van der Linde stayed out longer and became the last driver to pit. After his stop, van der Linde lost positions to Engel and also to his teammate Marco Wittmann in the #11 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo, dropping to third. Engel then took over the race lead.

Order Changes Mid-Race

A battle for fifth place developed between Jules Gounon in the #48 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and Nicki Thiim in the #7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, with both drivers exchanging positions during the race.

During the second round of pit stops, Engel and van der Linde pitted on the same lap, followed by Gounon, Auer, and Wittmann. Tom Kalender also received a penalty for an unsafe release.

After the second pit cycle, Engel remained in the lead, followed by Wittmann in second, Auer in third, van der Linde in fourth, and Gounon in fifth.

In the closing stages, Gounon passed van der Linde for fourth place, while Thiim also overtook him, dropping van der Linde further down the order.

Final Classification

At the finish, Engel secured the win, followed by Wittmann in second and Auer in third. Gounon finished fourth, while Thiim completed the top five.

Van der Linde crossed the line in sixth place, followed by Ben Dörr in the #25 Dörr Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 Evo in seventh and Wiebelhaus in eighth.

Thierry Vermeulen in the #69 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo finished ninth, while Buus in the #29 Land-Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R completed the top ten.
